Jabal Akhdhar has a beautiful desert landscape of canyons, ridges, and gorges that are peppered with visible marine fossils that date back to two and a half million years when the mountains were under the sea.

Location

Jabal Akhdar is part of the larger Al Hajar mountain range, and its name translates to Green Mountain in Arabic. The mountains are situated in the northeastern part of Oman, approximately 150 km (2 and a half hours) from the capital city of Muscat.

Things to know

  • Oman is pleasant from October to April. June to August are summer months.
  • Jabal Al Akhdhar has pleasant weather even during the summer months due to its high altitude.
  • The mountainous region is only accessible by 4X4 vehicles. Airport transfers can be arranged with Sahab on prior request
  • Don’t miss the gorgeous sunset from the edge of the resort that offers a stunning scatter of blue and soft pinks.

Rooms & Suites

The resort has 25 rooms divided into 3 categories Studio Room (204 sq ft), Deluxe Room (408sq ft), and the Family Suite (818 sq ft). Largely contemporary, the rooms have traditional Omani accents with intricate filigree lamps and colorfully patterned rugs. The rooms feature terraces and bay windows that look out to the beautiful landscape around. All the rooms have climate control and feature king beds, mini-bars, and bathrooms with rain showers (and bathtubs in the Family Suite).

Restaurants & Bars

The restaurants at the hotel include a multi-cuisine restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating as well as a specialty restaurant with 60 covers. From fine dining to casual al-fresco experiences, the resort caters to the diverse tastes of its guests, promising a culinary journey that reflects the essence of the region. Guests can sample international favourites as well as traditional Omani cuisine including the very popular Omani Shuwa – a meat dish marinated in local herbs and spices which is then buried in a fire pit for 24 hours.

The bar at Sahab is enveloped in an atmosphere of refined elegance. The subdued lighting, plush furnishings, and carefully curated decor create a cozy and intimate setting, providing the perfect backdrop for an evening of relaxation and socializing. The bar serves an impressive collection of cocktails and a nibbles menu to complement the drinks.
